- The Florida Panthers trade Brad Larsen, Chris Clark and Jeff Finley to the Dallas Stars for Richard Matvichuk.

- The Florida Panthers trade Alexander Mogilny and Ron Tugnutt to the St. Louis Blues for Keith Tkachuk.

- The Detroit Red Wings sign Roman Lyashenko (F) and release Brent Gilchrist (F).

- Pittsburgh sends Dan LaCouture (F), Paul Mara (D), and Robert Esche (G) to Phoenix for Cory Stillman (F), Teppo Numminen (D), and Craig Billington (G)

-The Detroit Red Wings sign Dave Manson (D) and Nathan Barrett (F) and release Lance Pitlick (D) and Per Mars (F).

- The Phoenix Coyotes sign Goran Bezina and Eric Westrum and releases Rich Pilon.
